we're just the right size.
Solid Dreams is a midsized, full service advertising agency. It's a good size to be because it allows us to maintain control of the creative product and give our clients a lot of personal attention. There is no bureaucracy to overcome and no corporate pyramid to corrupt the flow communication or bog down the creative process. In every phase of the marketing effort, you deal directly with the people who are doing the work. When we have meetings, you meet the key players, account planners, copywriters, media specialists and anyone else who needs to hear it firsthand. When we do research, we actually talk to your customers one to one, like they're real people! When we work with clients, we really work with clients, involving them in every step along the way. It's the simplest, purest working relationship we can think of, and we've found that it results in the kind of client/agency relationships that turn good ads into great ones and small businesses into big ones.

we don't think like ad guys.
This may be the best thing about us. You see, we don't think like ad guys because that's not what we are. Ad guys want to do ads (and sometimes lunch if they have an expense account). They want to have a meeting, shoot a photo, write a headline, get it out the door and collect their check. We take a slightly different approach. Yes, we do great ads, in fact. But that's just a small part of what we do. When we start a project, we suck up as much information as we can about the product, the client, the consumer, and anything else we can get our hands on. Then we start thinking about the best ways to communicate a message that will really mean something to the people it reaches. Now, while that message may be an ad, a billboard, an internet presence, TV or radio spot, it may also be something never tried before. Sometimes we end up on the conservative side, sometimes we don't, but we always stretch our thinking to find new ways to talk to the consumer. To sum it up, we don't just go out and advertise to people, we communicate with them.

research is our friend.
Great advertising is not the result of great writing and art direction. It is the result of a well formed strategy and a complete and total understanding of who you're trying to reach. That's why we believe in research. Not just the "phone call, fill out a survey" type of research, but the "actually go out and talk to people who buy stuff" type of research. The kind of research that clues us in to how people really feel about something and what it is that makes them want to buy it (or not).
Great advertising is also the result of a great client, one who assumes an active role in the process and with whom we can share beliefs and goals. And that's why we've built our agency around maintaining a close working relationship with our clients. After all, nobody will ever know more about your product or your industry than you.

We've structured our agency so that we have tremendous balance, both in our people and in how we approach the work. Each member of the Solid Dreams team has an area of expertise that he or she directs, but each is also asked to lend ideas to other areas as the process develops. Creative and planning sessions are often intense, sometimes even heated, but the end product always reflects the passions and commitment of the people involved.

Part of our balance also involves the degree to which we immerse ourselves in our work. Consistency of message is the key to building a solid brand, so everything the consumer sees, from TV ads, to web sites, to the smallest packaging detail, needs to convey a unified message. We've spent long nights working and reworking TV concepts, and even longer nights agonizing over a font choice for a hang tag. It's all part of building an image in the consumer's mind, and it's all important. Maybe we're deranged, but we think it's fun.

we actually like what we do.
It may seem like a trivial point, but it's a lot more fun to work with people who love what they do. For us, it's simple, if we're having fun, we're doing great work. If we're doing great work, our clients are doing well. If our clients are doing well, they're having fun too, which makes our job easier, and we're back where we started. Our working relationships are successful because we're as careful in choosing clients as they are in choosing us.
